DatesBANDWAGON 2012: General Election - 62 candidates in 27 contested races have been invited to speak.
Who puts on these programs?Since 1986, WFSU has regularly hosted these fun and informational programs in our studios with help from the League of Women Voters of Tallahassee. WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith and WFSU-FM’s Tom Flanigan hosted the program in 2010 and will return as hosts this year. The wonderful Capital Chordsmen have agreed to provide the music for 2012 programs. Their barbershop harmonies have been a part of the BANDWAGON for years and help create the special and fun atmosphere at this event.
How does it work? The format is what makes this program so special. BANDWAGON 2012 provides each candidate three minutes to talk about the issues they feel are important. To ensure that no one gets more time than anyone else, a musical group interrupts anyone going longer than the scheduled time and microphones are cut off. Candidates appearing on the ballot are invited to bring with them up to 15 supporters each. Supporters often wear t-shirts and wave signs supporting their candidates and can be seen often throughout the program.
How can I watch? The October 3rd and 4th programs will be telecast LIVE on WFSU-TV’s educational access channel known as4fsu (Comcast Cable Channel 4 in Leon, Gadsden, Wakulla, Madison, Taylor and Brooks Counties) and online at wfsu.org/television/4fsu_live_stream.php. Also, candidate speeches will be archived within 24-48 hours of the original telecast on this website
