For our Tasty Table segment, Chef Walter Wright from the Keiser University Center for Culinary Arts has shown us how to create some great main course dishes. This time around, he has a fabulous recipe for everyone's favorite part of the meal: dessert!

Recipe

Tasty Tiramisu

Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 6 oz. white granulated sugar
  • ⅔ cup whole milk
  • 16 oz. mascarpone cheese
  • 4-6 oz. freshly brewed coffee
  • 2 oz. dark run and coffee liquor
  • 1 oz. pernod
  • 6-8 oz. package ladyfinger cookies
  • 1 tbsp. or as needed cocoa powder

Ingredients for Whip Cream

  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • ½ tsp. pure vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until evenly mixed. Whisk in whole milk and cook over medium heat in a non-reactive pan, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Boil gently for 1 minute; remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Cover tightly and refrigerate until the custard cools completely - about an hour.
  2. In a medium bowl, whip heavy cream with vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  3. . Once custard has properly chilled, fold mascarpone into custard until smooth. Add Pernod for some extra flavor.
  4. Repeat layers and sprinkle with cocoa. Cover and refrigerate 4 to 6 hours, until mixture has set.
