When Babies Die

Florida has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country. While the problem is not new, an increase in the number of babies dying across the state is causing national, state and community leaders to renew efforts to prevent infants from being buried before they are able to crawl. Unfortunately, identifying a cause or causes that can be easily fixed has not been simple, especially when the communities most affected don't realize that one baby's death impacts more than just the parents.

Florida Probation Officers

No two days are ever the same in the life of a probation officer.  It’s a job that focuses on protecting the public from convicted felons and protecting felons from themselves -- by encouraging and counseling these offenders to lead successful lives “on the outside.” On any given day a Florida probation officer can visit the poorest of poor neighborhoods or an upper class home; they can deal with a violent sexual offender or one convicted of unlawful possession of a fire arm.
