Hi! I\u2019m Alexa and I\u2019m a new intern of WFSU Public Media. I am a proud Seminole double majoring in Media Communications and Family and Child Sciences, pursuing a career in hosting my own children\u2019s television show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I was little, every weekend morning, I would run from my room to the family room, holding a blanket and my Molly doll (Molly is a plush clown doll from The Big Comfy Couch.)<\/em> I\u2019d lay out my blanket on the floor, turn on PBS KIDS, The Big Comfy Couch,<\/em> and follow along with Loonette, as she did the \u201cClock Stretches\u201d segment of the program. I loved watching Loonette and Molly, how Loonette was a motherly figure to Molly, and how she was just so silly and fun. It encouraged me to be genuinely myself, forever and for always. It is very exciting to be learning from a PBS Station, part of the Public Media family that started it all!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My personal philosophy\u2026\u00a0 is to encourage everyone to live a life of selflessness, good intentions, kindness, and love. I strive daily to always leave everyone happier than they were when I first encountered them. When I was 8 years old, I had a mentor who attended Florida State University, she was a twirler and very involved in her sorority and countless organizations. Fast forward 12 years, now I am a FSU Majorette, Vice President of Membership Experience for my sorority Alpha Delta Pi, running for Senior Class Council Vice President with the Amplify Movement, I work for FSU Campus Rec. and now am an intern at WFSU Education & Engagement! Mentoring works!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was two years old the first time I stepped on a stage. I was, and still am, a competitive baton twirler, my Mom placed me in ballet class at a young age in hopes that I would turn out to be graceful (in case you\u2019re wondering, it didn\u2019t work).<\/em> We had a performance somewhere and the rest of my 2- 3 year old class didn\u2019t show up. As I result, I went on stage and performed my dance all by myself, diaper hanging out of my leotard in all. That\u2019s the day I fell in love with performing! Growing up as a competitive baton twirler instilled in me a strong passion for performing and spreading joy every time I twirled. I had the honor to be awarded Miss Fort Lauderdale\u2019s Outstanding Teen 2016<\/em> and have always loved promoting my platform of Amaze Me, Empowering Mentoring Relationships.<\/em> I began teaching baton when I was a high school freshman. I have always loved sharing my passion by performing and teaching an ambitious child and sharing the love of my sport is the most rewarding experience of my life. My Mom is the owner of a baton twirling team called Florida Superstars<\/em> and she is the most selfless, kind, hardworking woman I know. She has inspired and mentored more children than I can count and I\u2019m so proud to follow in her footsteps by becoming a baton twirling coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first time I remember holding a baby happened when I was about five years old, a just fell in love with this little one named Dylan, born to a family friend, from there on\u2026 my dream of working with children began to blossom inside of my heart. I absolutely adore babies and kids. I love everything about them; their innocent souls, curiosity, love for life, and ability to love without limits. Someday, I hope to become a mom of many!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My life experiences and my dreams have brought me to this path that I hope will lead me to a career in children\u2019s television, and most importantly, my life has taught me that my truest desire is to inspire children to never give up on their<\/em> dreams and to choose happiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
