Holland was tried, convicted, and sentenced to death for the July 1990 murder of Pompano Beach police officer Scott Winters. His first conviction was reversed on appeal because of errors. At his new trial, he again was convicted and sentenced to death. This sentence was affirmed on appeal. Holland now challenges its validity.
