Mr. Bates was convicted of the first-degree murder of Janet Renee White, who was abducted from her office and beaten and stabbed in 1982. The jury voted 9-3 to recommend a death sentence and he was condemned. This Court upheld the sentence on direct appeal and Mr. Bates filed a post-conviction challenge in trial court. It was rejected and this appeal followed. Mr. Bates raises several issues.
