Mr. Mady sued DaimlerChrysler Corp. in a dispute over a 2003 Dodge Viper he had leased. Mr. Mady and DaimlerChrysler later reached a settlement but a dispute over attorney fees continued. The trial court denied Mr. Mady's motion for attorney fees and costs. The Fourth District Court of Appeal upheld that ruling but certified conflict with the Second District Court of Appeal, which had issued a conflicting opinion in a separate case. Mr. Mady then appealed to this Court.
