Ms. Sullivan sued Mr. Koster and won default judgment when he did not respond to her lawsuit. Koster argued he was not legally notified of the case. The trial court ruled the paperwork submitted by the process server met the requirements of state law. The Second District Court of Appeal agreed but also certified potential conflict with decisions by other district courts of appeal. The district court also certified the legal issue as one of great public importance for this Court’s review.
