Ms. Jones and Mr. Golden each represent the estates of a divorced couple, Harry and
Katherine Jones. After the ex-husband died, the guardian of the ex-wife filed a claim on
his estate. After the ex-wife died, Mr. Golden, the curator of her estate, continued the
case seeking payment under the terms of the couple’s divorce. Ms. Jones, the personal
representative of the ex-husband’s estate, argued the claim was barred because it was
made too late. The probate court agreed with Ms. Jones but the Fourth District Court of
Appeal overturned the lower court.
