Mr. Andres was convicted of the first-degree murder of Ivette Farinas, who had been beaten and fatally stabbed and strangled in 2005. The jury voted 9-3 to recommend a death sentence and the trial court sentenced Mr. Andres to death. This is his direct appeal.
