Walter Hinton asked Bowles, a homeless man, to help out with work at his trailer. Bowles began living at the trailer, but soon left over a quarrel. Shortly thereafter, Hinton allowed Bowles back. One night after smoking marijuana and drinking as much as six quarts of beer, Bowles bludgeoned Hinton with a concrete block and strangled him to death. Bowles was sentenced to death.
