Larkins was convicted of the Aug. 30, 1990, murder of Roberta Faith Nicolas at a Circle K store in Bowling Green during a robbery. He was convicted and sentenced to death in 1991. The Supreme Court later sent the case back to the trial judge for a proper evaluation of mitigating evidence in a new sentencing proceeding. He was again sentenced to death and appeals.
