Dorelus was stopped for a traffic infraction when an officer observed the "shiny silver butt of a handgun sticking out of the console located underneath the radio." He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, but the trial judge dismissed the charge. The Fourth District reversed on grounds that it is for the jury to decide whether a partially concealed weapon is "concealed" in violation of the law.
