Waterhouse was convicted and sentenced to death for the January 1980 murder of Deborah Kammerer. A new sentencing hearing later was ordered due to errors at the original trial. The jury recommended death 12-to-0, and the trial court again imposed the death penalty. This sentence was upheld on appeal. Waterhouse now challenges the validity of his sentence.
