Nienaber is an urban planner and facilitator striving to shape healthier, more engaged communities through her work with the Center for Active Design. Among other insights, her work reveals that well-maintained amenities, such as street trees, lighting and playground equipment, are associated with higher levels of civic trust.
As a part of the lecture, Nienaber will lead participants in interactive exercises to reimagine local public spaces within Tallahassee-Leon County. Participant insights on opportunities to enhance community spaces across the region will also inform KCCI’s ongoing visioning efforts for the Market-District—contributing to a reimagined district incorporating a park, shaded walkways, and additional entertainment options to amplify the local dining and shopping experience.
