Winter day Camps: Dec. 29, Dec. 30, Jan. 3, Jan 4, Jan 17, Feb 21

December 29, 2021: Creative Coders

It’s the exciting language of technology affecting every aspect of our lives. K-5th grade appropriate activities for campers may include learning to code with crafts, Minecraft, robots, snap circuits and more.

December 30, 2021: Solar System Science 

It’s a day of “out of this world” science and hands-on, minds-on activities. K-5th grade appropriate activities may include: flying a simulated space mission, viewing the night sky in our planetarium, making suncatchers and lava lamps, viewing sunspots through a sun spotter or telescope, and more.

January 3, 2022: Animal Antics

Investigate several species of aquatic and land animals, from tiny insects to large mammals. What do they eat? How do they live? What are their habitats? What ecosystem do they thrive in and why? How do they adapt and survive? K-5th grade appropriate activities will vary.

January 4, 2022: Geology Rocks

Have a “rock”ing good time at Camp Challenger as we explore and identify rocks, crystals, and land formations on Earth, the Moon and Mars. K-5th grade appropriate activities may include: growing stalagmites, rock candy and crystal geodes, decorating pet rocks, exploring plate tectonics with Oreo cookies, investigate various forms of rocks and gemstones, and much more.

January 17, 2022: Asteroid Academy

It’s a day dedicated to the exploration of our moon and the several asteroids throughout our solar system. K-5th grade appropriate activities may include: flying a simulated space mission, mining on a simulated asteroid, building an edible asteroid, making Moon craters, coding and building rovers for the Moon and asteroids, and learning about NASA’s latest information being collected on Asteroid Bennu.

February 21, 2022: Science Solutions

In celebration of Black History Month (February) and Women’s History Month (March), campers will explore and test the inventions, engineering marvels, and innovations of Black and female scientists throughout history. Throughout the day, campers will explore the fields of physics, space science, chemistry, mathematics, medicine, biology and robotics through the marvels and efforts of these amazing American scientists.
