The end result was a 7-part documentary series called <em>Florida Footprints<\/em> and it focuses on the history of the Big Bend and Panhandle area.  All of these documentaries are available for streaming on <a href=\"https:\/\/wfsu.org\/support\/passport\/&amp;ref=navtvopen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WFSU Passport.<\/a>&nbsp;You can also watch them below. Watch in order or pick the time period that interests YOU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em><u>Episode 1<\/u><\/em>&#8211; Once Upon Anhaica (1513-1704)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before there was Tallahassee, there was Anhaica.&nbsp;&nbsp; This WFSU-TV documentary looks at the Big Bend area when the first European explorers arrived at Anhaica, the capital of the Apalachee people.&nbsp; From the culture of the Apalachee to the creation of Spanish missions to the community we know today, it all began \u201cOnce upon Anhaica\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"pbs-viral-player-wrapper\" style=\"position: relative; padding-top: calc(56.25% + 43px);\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/player.pbs.org\/viralplayer\/2365218402\/\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"encrypted-media\" style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; border: 0;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/video.wfsu.org\/video\/wfsu-documentary-florida-footprints-once-upon-anhaica-1513-1704\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Once Upon Anhaica, WFSU Public Media, Copyright 2012<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><u><strong>E<\/strong><\/u><\/em><strong><em><u>pisode 2 <\/u><\/em>&#8211; A Feral Land (1704-1845)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>By the 18<sup>th<\/sup> and 19<sup>th<\/sup> centuries, Northwest Florida had been known to the Europeans for hundreds of years, but this area was far from tame.&nbsp; Spanish, French, British, American and Native Americans fight for control over \u201cA Feral Land\u201d once known as La Florida. Changes in the region\u2019s economy, society and landscape accelerate.&nbsp; &nbsp;This time period is not without challenges: A college campus deals with the devastation left behind by serial killer Ted Bundy; the outcome of a presidential election hinges on what happens in the state\u2019s capital; and concern about the area\u2019s natural resources becomes a source for political and public disagreement. &nbsp;Each new event springing in some way from other events of the past.
