border: 0;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:52px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve never met anyone who didn\u2019t like a happy dog.\u00a0 When you watch this video, you\u2019ll see some happy dogs.\u00a0 You\u2019ll know they\u2019re happy because their tails are wagging.\u00a0 Additionally, I\u2019ve noticed that when people are around happy dogs, the people are happy, too.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-green-cyan-background-color has-background has-large-font-size\"> <strong>Happiness is waiting for you!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So now I have a secret for you.&nbsp; There is an enormous amount of untapped happiness waiting for you at your local animal shelter or humane society.&nbsp; They are looking for people to foster animals that are waiting to make you temporarily happy.&nbsp; The organization you\u2019re fostering with takes care of that.&nbsp; Maureen Thompson fosters a dog for the Tallahassee Animal Shelter. &nbsp;She says, \u201c\u2026everything\u2019s covered.&nbsp; They will give you a dog crate, they will give you dog bowls, they will give you the food \u2026there\u2019s vets on the staff of the animal shelter\u2026there should be zero expense for you.\u201d&nbsp; It\u2019s NOT because they\u2019re sniffing around your private business.&nbsp; They do this to understand better the type of dog\/animal they may ask you to foster.&nbsp; This background information is a happiness multiplier for both you and the foster animal.&nbsp; Grayson Walters with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.talgov.com\/animals\/animalservices\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.talgov.com\/animals\/animalservices\"><strong>Tallahassee Animal Services<\/strong><\/a>, says they also start their foster folks out with an orientation, so they\u2019re prepared if the unexpected arises.&nbsp; Across town at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leoncountyhumane.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.leoncountyhumane.org\/\"><strong>Leon County Humane Society<\/strong><\/a>, Lisa Glunt explains, \u201cThe fosters always have a lifeline.&nbsp; The foster parents always have, depending on who their coordinator is, whether they\u2019re fostering cats or dogs or one of the other animals we get in, they always have a staff member who they can reach out to in an emergency situation.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-green-cyan-background-color has-background has-large-font-size\" style=\"font-style:normal;font-weight:900\"> <strong>If you want a friend, get a dog<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of reaching out\u2026that is one of the common misconceptions I have found about fostering a rescue.&nbsp; These organizations don\u2019t just drop the animal in your lap and take off.&nbsp; They have all kinds of support for you when you need it.&nbsp; And the foster people have even formed social media groups to help each other.&nbsp; Politicians say: If you want a friend, get a dog.&nbsp; I say: If you want more social media friends, foster a rescue dog.&nbsp;&nbsp; (Side note: That is an example of \u201cgood\u201d social media.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, now you know about the Happy-Foster-Feedback-Loop.&nbsp; To start the process, contact your local <strong>animal shelter<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.talgov.com\/animals\/asc-foster\">City of Tallahassee foster information<\/a>) or <strong>humane society<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leoncountyhumane.org\/get-involved\/foster\/\">Leon County Humane Society foster information<\/a>).&nbsp;
