Now, many of these structures have fallen into disrepair and only an estimated 14 remain in Florida. Callaway&#8217;s Historical Society has worked to preserve the city&#8217;s schoolhouse as a museum, but damage from Hurricane Michael has made the building unsafe. Callaway is now beginning restoration efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One Hundred Years in the Destruction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hurricane Michael almost destroyed a century old piece of history in the city of Callaway.  The town is east of Panama City in Bay County, Florida.
