The Alzheimer\u2019s Project has received a large donation to expand its services in Tallahassee and surrounding North Florida counties. The ceremonial check presentation happened Saturday morning, Aug. 20 at the Alzheimer’s Project headquarters next door to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n

Alzheimer\u2019s Project Executive Director John Trombetta said, as the overall population ages, his organization is needed more than ever.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd the needs aren\u2019t necessarily changing in terms of the services that we offer. But for the early-stage folks, we just need more capacity and I think by having additional sites, or at least a more strategically located site, we can serve our population.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s donation in the amount of nearly $27,000 came from the \u201c100+ Women Who Care.\u201d Its founder Virginia Glass said the group\u2019s philanthropic ability – is growing fast as its membership expands.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is 300 by the end of this year because each member we get means more money for the nonprofits. It\u2019s so gratifying and such a blessing to have the community that we have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since its founding less than two years ago, the group has donated a total of $185,000 to area nonprofit organizations. <\/p>\n
