The first of three outdoor book trails got its ribbon-cutting on Thursday, Aug. 25 at Leon County\u2019s Eastside Library. Similar trails will open next month at the Woodville Park and Recreation Center and Fort Braden Library Branch.<\/p>\n

The \u201cFully Booked\u201d project features a Wander and Wonder story trail around Pedrick Pond Park, three benches that look like books and a hammock garden for those who take their reading lying down.<\/p>\n

The project was a place-making effort by the current Knight Creative Communities Institute catalyst class, and also involved the Friends of the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library. The whole idea, say the groups\u2019 members, is to combine literacy, art and nature. The serialized book segments posted along the trail will be changed out periodically. <\/p>\n
