The Rattler\u2019s star catcher signed a free agent contract on Tuesday to play with Major League Baseball\u2019s San Francisco Giants.<\/p>\n<p>The Virginia Beach native helped <a href=\"https:\/\/news.wfsu.org\/wfsu-local-news\/2023-06-06\/florida-a-m-baseball-head-coach-recaps-historic-2023-season\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FAMU win its first Southwestern Athletic Conference title<\/a>. Hanchey finished his collegiate career with 130 hits and 14 home runs, earning him a spot in last week\u2019s HBCU College Swingman Classic.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/npr.brightspotcdn.com\/c2\/d6\/ed89b7484ef88186a9cf0efebf17\/screenshot-2023-07-12-163247.png\" width=\"619\" height=\"671\" alt=\"Ty Hanchey is headed to the Bay as he\u2019s signed with the San Francisco Giants organization via Twitter \"><\/p>\n<p>He joins four other HBCU players to receive an MLB contract this week.
