Tallahassee\u2019s Killearn Estates neighborhood will be full of pedestrians this Saturday morning, March 2.<\/p>\n

Killearn Methodist Church is holding its annual 5K and 1-mile event known as Shamrock Scurry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just a great community time,\u201d says event co-director Connie Clarke. \u201cPeople like to get out. Usually, we have great weather. It\u2019s starting to feel a little like springtime. People are excited to be outside.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outing includes a pancake breakfast and an awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

Clarke says they anticipate having at least 800 runners and walkers. A high turnout is expected since the event has been designated as a Grand Prix, where participants can get points as part of the Gulf Winds Track Club.<\/p>\n

The money raised will go toward mission outreach programs at the church, both international and local, like the church\u2019s food bank.<\/p>\n

Online registration is available here<\/a> until Friday at 5 p.m. Participants can also register in person on race day.<\/p>\n

Packet pickup happens Thursday from 4 \u2013 7 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
