Gadsden County Administrator Edward Dixon has been terminated after serving in the position for four years.<\/p>\n

Commission Chair Eric Hinson raised the motion during Tuesday’s commission meeting.<\/p>\n

He did not say why he thought Dixon should be fired. But before the board voted 3-2, Dixon said he felt like he was being attacked by people on the board.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m not ashamed of trying to move this county forward…that was my job,” said Dixon.<\/p>\n

Commissioners Brenda Hope and Ron Green voted against the firing, saying the termination was out of order.<\/p>\n

“Let me thank you for the opportunity to serve you. It has truly been a pleasure. We did some great things together. As you know I will go away but I won’t go far,” said Dixon.<\/p>\n

The commission turned the position over to the county\u2019s building official Roosevelt Morris, until the commission can find someone to take over the role permanently.<\/p>\n
