Tallahassee’s latest public arts project is now underway. Sam Joslin is with the local Council of Culture and the Arts known as COCA. That group and the Community Redevelopment Agency are looking to pick a total of three businesses in the downtown area and another three in the Frenchtown and Southside neighborhoods that are targets of graffiti.<\/p>\n

“The property owners and businesses within those two districts that have issues with graffiti and would like to be part of the program, they would apply and then we’ll work with the CRA and we’ve got people from their staff as well as their Citizen Advisory Committee who will help us make the final selection of those properties.”<\/p>\n

Joslin says applications will be open through March 19th. After that, she says a unique mural design will be chosen for each location.<\/p>\n

“We’ll work with the CRA and ultimately with the property owner on deciding those final designs, because the property owner’s the one who’ll have to live with it forever.”<\/p>\n

The project should be underway in April.<\/p>\n
