The FSU Women\u2019s Basketball team hosted their final regular season game against the 16th<\/sup> ranked Duke Blue Devils Sunday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center. In a physical game that was close through three quarters, the Lady Noles fell to Duke 71-57.<\/p>\n

Duke led by six points at the end of the first quarter, but FSU cut the lead to one and the first half ended with Duke leading 32-31. The third quarter was competitive, and the fourth quarter began with a 49-47 Duke lead. However, the Noles couldn\u2019t score and couldn\u2019t stop the Blue Devils as Duke coasted to a 14-point win.<\/p>\n

FSU was led by Makayla Timpson with 25 points and eight rebounds. The nation\u2019s leading scorer Ta\u2019Niya Latson shot 3 for 21 and ended with 9 points.<\/p>\n

The 24th<\/sup> ranked Noles entered the game with a 4-game winning streak, most recently defeating 3rd<\/sup> ranked Notre Dame. With Sunday\u2019s loss, the Seminoles ended the regular season with a 23-7 overall record and a 13-5 conference record.<\/p>\n

It was Senior Night at the game and pre-game ceremonies honored four women: forward Makayla Timpson the all-time FSU rebound leader, guard O\u2019Mariah Gordon who ended the year with a career-best season, forward Malea Williams who was new to the team this year as a transfer athlete from Cincinnati, and forward Mariana Valenzuela who returned to the line-up this year after missing last season rehabilitating from an injury.<\/p>\n

Next up for the Noles is the ACC Tournament in Charlotte beginning this Wednesday.<\/p>\n

And on Saturday night, the FSU Men\u2019s team lost to 2nd<\/sup> ranked Duke in a lopsided game that ended with a 100-65 Duke victory. Next up for the Noles is a Tuesday night game at Virginia before ending the season at home against SMU this Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
