Tallahassee’s Southern Shakespeare Festival<\/a> is announcing a new date. That comes after first tornadoes and then thunderstorms disrupted the group’s outdoor April performances two years in a row. <\/p>\n

The company’s Christine Hansen hopes things will be different in 2026. “This year the festival will be in February, which is so exciting! ‘The Tempest’ is the inaugural show going into that February slot and the Bardlings will be performing ‘The Winter’s Tale.'”<\/p>\n

Hansen directs the Bardlings, which is the troupe for young people. She’s looking for more local teens to join the company.<\/p>\n

“Those auditions are coming up the 22nd and 23rd of August, and we want to encourage lots of teenagers to come out and audition.”<\/p>\n

Hansen and a few grownup members of Southern Shakespeare were at My Favorite Books on Saturday, July 26. It was a joint appearance with young peoples’ author Dale Flint, who has penned a time-travel fantasy novel about a modern high school student who finds herself hanging out with Shakespeare’s Juliet. <\/p>\n
