{"id":21011,"date":"2025-08-01T08:32:53","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T12:32:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wfsu.org\/local-routes\/?post_type=wfsu-news&#038;p=21011"},"modified":"2025-08-01T08:42:03","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T12:42:03","slug":"this-is-hulk-hogan-day-in-florida","status":"publish","type":"wfsu-news","link":"https:\/\/wfsu.org\/local-routes\/wfsu-news\/this-is-hulk-hogan-day-in-florida\/","title":{"rendered":"This is Hulk Hogan Day in Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Governor Ron DeSantis has declared this &#8220;Hulk Hogan Day in Florida.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Tampa-area resident and wrestling legend, whose real name was Terry Bollea, died last week at age 71.<\/p>\n<p>The governor has directed state and Americans flags to be flown at half-staff at the Capitol today until sunset.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Announcement from the Governor&#8217;s Office:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>On Thursday, July 24, 2025, Florida resident and legendary professional wrestler Terry Bollea, better known as Hulk Hogan, passed away. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Hogan was born in Augusta, Georgia, but moved to Tampa at a young age. He began his wrestling career in 1977 and rose to fame after joining World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, first in 2005 and again in 2020 as a member of the New World Order. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>His larger-than-life personality will be missed, as the &#8220;Hulkster&#8221; was an icon for many who grew up in the 80s and 90s as well as today.
