This Saturday&#8217;s matinee showing is custom-made for folks on the autism spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>Young Actors&#8217; CEO Sarah Doolin Roy says it all began in the summer when Young Actors was invited to send some performers to a New York benefit on Broadway for the Arts for Autism group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We applied for the community access grant as part of Arts for Autism and we were awarded a maximum award, which is $5,000.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That grant, she says, helped stage this Saturday afternoon&#8217;s special show of &#8220;The Little Mermaid.&#8221; The intensity of the condensed performance is ramped down to avoid sensory overload, making it a treat everyone can enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s just an opportunity for families to come, feel welcome and enjoy the art of storytelling through live performance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 1 p.m. matinee is also a &#8220;pay-what-you want&#8221; situation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youngactorstheatre.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/youngactorstheatre.com<\/a> <\/p>\n<div class=\"fullattribution\">Copyright 2025 WFSU News<\/div>\n","protected":false},"author":35,"featured_media":0,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"tdm_status":"","tdm_grid_status":"","wds_primary_category":0},"categories":[],"tags":[1137,1135],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.3 -
