The elimination of government funding for public broadcasting will soon impact WFSU Public Media. \u00a0<\/p>\n

“Over the past several months, we have shared with our listeners and viewers that the loss of government funding this year and next will have a major impact on our organization,” said WFSU General Manager David Mullins.<\/p>\n

“From the beginning, our message has been consistent – we remain committed to doing our best to provide the programming and services our community has always received. But this loss of funding has required WFSU to make the difficult decision regarding several full-time and part-time staff positions that will take effect January 30th, 2026.”<\/p>\n

For WFSU, the funding loss is estimated to total approximately $2.8 million beginning with the July 1, 2026, start of the next fiscal year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Public media stations, including WFSU, have received programming expense reductions from PBS and NPR this year, but those reductions are not yet confirmed for next year and beyond.\u00a0<\/p>\n

WFSU’s broadcast radio and television operations will continue without interruption.<\/p>\n

“We have a strong, resilient, and deeply dedicated team,” said Mullins. “We will continue to serve our community, navigate new challenges, and embrace new opportunities ahead.” <\/p>\n
