After two straight years of weather trouble in March, Tallahassee’s Southern Shakespeare Festival has moved to the weekend of February 20th<\/sup> this year. The highlight is three performances of “The Tempest.” Southern Shakespeare’s’ Executive Director Bianca Montague said the longstanding tradition of having a famous star appear in the lead role continues this year.<\/p>\n

“William ‘Ragsdale of ‘Fright Night’ and ‘Herman’s Head’ fame. He’s coming in as our Prospero. We’re very excited to welcome him to town soon to start the rehearsal process.”<\/p>\n

Montague added there will also be something new for the younger set.”<\/p>\n

Saturday and Sunday along with the Bardlings’ performance of ‘The Winter’s Tale’ at 5:30 \u2013 they’re our junior company \u2013 we’ve also introduced what we’re calling the ‘Kids’ Kingdom’ that’s happening at 4 o’clock. There will be kid vendors and other organizations from the community coming out and tabling with some kids’ activities.”<\/p>\n

All of the performances during the festival are free. <\/p>\n
