Dogs were having their day and so were the cats as local animal welfare groups held fundraisers in Tallahassee on Saturday, Sept. 14.<\/p>\n

The Humane Society of Leon County’s director Lisa Glunt said her Timberlane Road headquarters was turned into a “doggy washeteria.”<\/p>\n

“Yeah, we’re getting the dogs in and out of here, getting their nails trimmed and the dogs washed; just a fun day!” she exclaimed.<\/p>\n

More fun happened a few hours later at the Lake Ella American Legion. The For Cats’ Sake event was a giant animal art silent auction. Organizer Michelle Hartsfield said those who missed it can still make a difference.<\/p>\n

“We have a PayPal account for Feline Advocates,” she said, “It’s FALCCats@gmail.com if you want to use that. You can also come by the Fat Cat Cafe and hang out with the kitties. Your entry fee is a donation to the rescue.”<\/p>\n

And who knows? Cafe visitors could also wind up taking home a new furry friend. <\/p>\n
