Florida A&M University is welcoming a new face to the Rattlers football program.

Head Coach James Colzie III announced Tuesday, he’s adding Henry Burris as the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

“I felt it was important to get someone who could step in right away and gel with our offensive staff,” Colzie said in a statement.

Coach Burris will be joining the Rattlers to help lead the team’s offense and mentor the guys at the quarterback position.

The former pro Canadian football player brings years of experience to the team as both a coach and player. He’s Colzie’s first outside hire and fans hope he’ll make an immediate impact.

Burris spent 18 years playing quarterback in the Canadian Football League (CFL), throwing for over 65,000 yards. He’s a member of the league’s Hall of Fame. He also coached several teams in the National Football League.

“Joining the Florida A&M University staff isn’t just about football; it’s about FAMUly,” said Burris. “My wife, Nicole, and our boys, Armand, and Barron are thrilled to embark on this journey together.

FAMU will be having its first scrimmage game this Saturday at Bragg Memorial Stadium at 4pm. Tickets can be purchased at famuathletics.com/springgame
