Farm Share, the non-profit food bank, is supplying local families with 4,000 free hurricane preparedness kits on Saturday, June 15.

Florida’s largest independent food bank, is partnering with Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) to distribute hurricane preparedness supplies at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee.

“Floridians are unfortunately too familiar with the devastating impacts hurricanes and other major storms can have on our communities, our homes, and our loved ones,” said Stephen Shelley, CEO of Farm Share.

Shelley said residents will receive essential items like food and water, to get them through future storms.

“Preparing for these events is essential, but we recognize that these supplies can fall to the bottom of the to-do list when money is tight.”

Each participating family will receive a hurricane supply kit that includes non-perishable foods, a can opener, water, socks, toiletries, reusable bags, bug spray, and a guide to help households better protect themselves during and after a storm.

Families with pets will also receive a free pet supply kit. Hurricane preparedness supplies will be distributed on Saturday, June 15 from 9 a.m. until supplies run out at the Florida State Hospital, 100 N Main St, Chattahoochee, FL 32324.
