Amid ongoing issues involving stolen mail and mail not being delivered on time, Tallahassee has a new postmaster.
Vanessa Cobb will be sworn in next Thursday at the Main Post Office on South Adams Street. The event is open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
In a news release, the postal service says Cobb grew up in Tallahassee and graduated from Florida State University. She started working as a letter carrier in 1998. Now, she oversees hundreds of employees who cover 15 ZIP Codes.

Background: Vanessa Cobb was born and raised in Tallahassee and began her Postal Service career there in 1998. A graduate of Florida State University, Cobb had ambitions of becoming the city’s Postmaster and worked her way up from the position of letter carrier. As the Tallahassee Postmaster, she oversees 372 employees who cover 15 ZIP Codes and 139,828 delivery points in the capital city.
“I plan to strengthen our relationship between our employees and the community as we provide the best service possible,” Cobb said.
This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided.
