Most Florida homes that lost power due to Hurricane Helene have now had power restored, said Governor Ron DeSantis Tuesday.
The governor gave that update during a press conference on the state’s recovery efforts at Dixie County’s Horseshoe Beach.
“Now since the storm, we had power restored to 2.35 million customers. There are now 49,000 that are still outstanding,” DeSantis said.
The governor touted various state agencies and the work of utility crews for the progress made in restoring power. With things going so well in Florida, DeSantis said he’s now prepared to share resources with other states to help them recover.
“I have sent rescue operations and rescue assets to western North Carolina to help with that. It’s a dicey situation there. We want to be able to get people to safety,” he said.
The Florida National Guard and State Guard will be sent to help in those areas.
