The old saying, “Truth is stranger than fiction,” would seem to apply to a new play written by a Florida State grad student. Tom Flanigan reports the work premieres this Thursday through Saturday at Crawfordville’s Palaver Tree Theater.

The name of the play is “Sterling Legacy.” The co-director, Jeffrey Mandel, says the plot is based on a real happening.

“Danielle Wirsansky, an FSU doctoral candidate in history and a Fulbright Scholar, her specialty is the Holocaust, World War II and women spies of World War II, wrote this play based on an incident that actually happened. Which is, a terrible remnant of the Holocaust turns up in a storage unit in Florida.”

Sterling Legacy will be staged at the Palaver Tree Theater this Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, plus a Saturday afternoon matinee performance.
