The Alzheimer’s Project has received a large donation to expand its services in Tallahassee and surrounding North Florida counties. The ceremonial check presentation happened Saturday morning, Aug. 20 at the Alzheimer’s Project headquarters next door to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Alzheimer’s Project Executive Director John Trombetta said, as the overall population ages, his organization is needed more than ever.
“And the needs aren’t necessarily changing in terms of the services that we offer. But for the early-stage folks, we just need more capacity and I think by having additional sites, or at least a more strategically located site, we can serve our population.”
Saturday’s donation in the amount of nearly $27,000 came from the “100+ Women Who Care.” Its founder Virginia Glass said the group’s philanthropic ability – is growing fast as its membership expands.
“Our goal is 300 by the end of this year because each member we get means more money for the nonprofits. It’s so gratifying and such a blessing to have the community that we have.”
Since its founding less than two years ago, the group has donated a total of $185,000 to area nonprofit organizations.
