A lunch honoring the Capital Region’s first responders aims to forge closer personal and professional connections

Around 300 Tallahassee area first responders gathered at the Turnbull Center on Thursday, Sept. 10 for a luncheon honoring their service. Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil says the occasion has an important objective.
“One of the fundamental things we have to do is make sure we’re communicating and talking to each other and working together to solve these problems and issues. And that happens not easily. It happens with our being committed to each other and having events like this each year to remind us why we do what we do.”
Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell says he’s never seen a better cooperative spirit among the various agencies.
“It’s all about relationships and this is a great example of how the different agencies work together so seamlessly in this community. And the community’s very fortunate to have those types of relationships.”
Featured speakers for the event were State Senator Corey Simon and former FSU Women’s Basketball Head Coach Sue Semrau.
