A dozen community parks in Gadsden County are slated to undergo an “extreme makeover” this summer. It’s part of the county’s new ‘Love Where We Live’ campaign.
The initiative was created by the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners to engage the community in reducing litter and pollution in the county.
“We want our residents and visitors who visit and play in our parks, to enjoy themselves in a clean and safe environment,” Gadsden County Parks and Recreation Department Director Shawanna Moye said.
Gadsden will kick off its renovation project Saturday, June 1, at Shiloh Park in Quincy. The event is free to the public and will give visitors a chance to see the basketball court repaved and installation of new playground equipment.
Gadsden’s Moye said the county plans to host more Extreme Makeover Park Editions throughout the summer, until all 12 of the county’s parks are remodeled.
“Shiloh Park would be the first one and we will just maneuver throughout the county,” she said. “We’re just making sure we give each park love and attention.”
Shiloh Park is located at 100 Park Lane in Quincy. The Extreme Makeover is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
