Devin Rispress, the head of Florida A&M University’s football recruiting team, announced Thursday that he’s stepping down to join Deion Sanders at the University of Colorado.

“It has been said that sometimes life comes at you fast,” Rispress said on Twitter. “As of today, I’m resigning as the football director of recruiting at Florida A&M University and accepting a position with the University of Colorado Buffaloes.”

“To Rattler Nation, I love y’all! Thanks for all the support and welcoming me into the family.”

It’s been a little over a week since FAMU lost head football coach to Willie Simmons to Duke. The six-year-coach broke many school records as he led the Rattlers to its first black college national title in over two decades. Simmons found a job at Duke a few days later.

Now, this week, FAMU’s front office was hit with more bad news, when their promising recruiting director announced his resignation. The university hired Rispress in 2022. He spent years coaching high school football in Leon and Gadsden county.

Rispress did not say what his role will be at Colorado or why he chose to leave FAMU. The resignation does come after FAMU boosters and alumni recently approved a vote of no confidence against the university’s athletic director for the way she’s handled the head coach search.
