Florida A&M University is bringing in Patrick Crarey II as the next head men’s basketball coach. The University held a press conference Friday to officially announce the hire.

“I’m delighted to welcome Coach Crarey and his family as the newest member of the FAMUly,” Vice President and Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes said.

With Florida A&M coming off a 4-14 losing season, Coach Crarey said its time for a change.

“A lot of people focus on resources; I focus on alignment,” Crarey said at Friday’s press event. “Our program will be aligned from the top of the board in the Chair of Trustees, all the way down to the managers of our program. We are aligned with the vision of FAMU.”

Crarey takes over the program as the Rattler’s 15th head basketball coach. He replaces former FAMU coach Robert McCullum, who the University parted ways with in March after seven seasons.

McCullum went 67-133 with the Rattlers.

The Washington, D.C. native coached on the intercollegiate level for 15 years, leading St. Thomas University to a 61-27 record, two consecutive NAIA Tournaments, and three straight winning seasons.

Crarey was named the Sun Conference Coach of the Year following his team’s regular season success.
