Gadsden Art Center Curator Ashley Williams says an exciting new show will soon be opening at the museum on the square in Quincy.

“So we are opening up an exhibition called ‘The American South,’ photographs by Jimmy Nicholson, Gordon Parks and Guggenheim Fellows. It is guest curated by Jimmy Nicholson. It’s going to open on September 26th with an opening from 5 to 7:30 on that Friday night, so we hope everyone can come out and join us.”

Nicholson, who calls Gadsden County home, is the show curator, as well as an exhibitor.

“Well we have 14 Guggenheim Fellows that we’re featuring and I believe there’ll be 54 works all together, including Gordon Parks work, plus the Guggenheim Fellows and then 8 of my images.”

He said all of the images explore Southern history, culture and identify.
