With Innovation Park Executive Director Ron Miller soon stepping down, Park Board Chair Kevin Graham said an interim director will soon be filling the post.
“The action that the board took today is to bring Michael Kramer in the interim executive director role. Mr. Kramer has shown a great propensity to get involved in difficult business situations. He’s able to analyze, assess, distill and then help organizations identify solutions.”
Graham asserted Kramer would be the right person to, not simply maintain stability, but also position the park and the controlling Leon County Research and Development Authority for an upward trajectory.
“What we’re looking at in terms of Michael Kramer’s interim role is helping us understand structure and strategy. What is it we need to do in terms of the Leon County Research and Development Authority – Innovation Park – to set our park up for great success.”
Eventually that might include rethinking governance structure and certainly increasing park revenue. A lack of tenants has led to significant indebtedness. But some new money actually arrived the same day as the Kramer vote in the form of a more-than-$700,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The award was for Innovation Park’s accomplishments in promoting technological entrepreneurship in the Capital City region.
