Longineu Parsons reflects on his musical legacy on this week’s episode of The Warehouse

8

Parsons studied at Florida A&M University where he met and was mentored by legendary trumpeter Nat Adderley—who is now the namesake of the Cascades Park amphitheatre.

He says his mission is to create music that connects people.

“I’ve always wanted my music to be about something,” Parsons said. “Not just to be popular or to make money … or whatever various reasons that people do music. I really would like for my music to say something that is contributing to our society.”

Parsons says one way he creates that connection is by avoiding what he calls “being put in a box.”
