More than 4,000 Duke Energy customers in Madison County are without power due to a transmission line failure.
Madison County Emergency Management put out a statement Monday around 1 p.m. stating that Duke Energy is reportedly dealing with a “transmission issue.”
The failure has caused a loss of power to approximately “99% of Madison County Customers,” according to a Facebook post.
“Our crews, because of the high winds, have not been able to get out,” Duke Energy spokesperson Jeff Brooks said. In the last maybe two hours, was the first time the wind was low enough to safely put our buckets in the air and begin some work out in the field.”
This issue comes as Madison deals with flash floods, downed tree limbs, and debris from Tropical Storm Debby. The once catergory-1 hurricane, is slowly moving across the Big Bend and South Georgia.
Duke plans to resolve the issue and assess damage once conditions subside.
