The Living Christmas Story returns to Killearn Methodist Church in Tallahassee’s Killearn Estates neighborhood this Friday through Sunday.
The outdoor display of Bethlehem features actors and animals.
“I’m sure Killearn residents will remember the year the donkeys became famous as they escaped down Killarney Way,” says volunteer Susan Stafford, who has been involved in the production most every year since it began in 1987.
“Elvis is a repeat performer with the Living Christmas Story, and he is a donkey who was donated to the church years ago,” Stafford says. “He and his stepbrother Ray can be seen in this year’s performance. The 362 days of the year when Elvis and Ray are not starring in roles in Bethlehem, they live together on the farm of one of the Killearn Methodist Church members.”
Visitors can enjoy the sights and sounds of Bethlehem in their own vehicle or on a hayride. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for a limited time each night, and you should plan to arrive early because the lines can get long.
