Members of Tallahassee’s Jewish community gathered on Monday night in solidarity.
Temple Israel’s Rabbi Paul Sidlofsky called for a community-wide event to uplift the people of Israel. This comes less than 48 hours after a Palestinian Islamist militant group launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing thousands and injuring even more.
“As a Jewish community in Tallahassee, we feel certainly a connection with Israel as Jews all over the would do,” said Sidlofsky.
Nearly a hundred guests filled the Temple, including local government officials.
“We as a community all need to come together in support of the Jewish community here with their brothers and sisters in Israel it is very important.” Leon County Commissioner Rick Minor stated at the event.
Silofsky led several musical selections and readings before allowing the congregation time to share their own prayers for peace and healing overseas.
“It is really gratifying to see people of all different backgrounds and faiths come together to show support.”
