The only place in Tallahassee where people can shop for both used books and adoptable cats held its second grand opening on Friday, Sept. 4. Fat Cat Books, formerly in Railroad Square, welcomed shoppers to its new home near the corner of Magnolia Drive and Tennessee Street.
The event included live music, which sent the store’s cats fleeing to the quieter upstairs of the two-story structure. Feline Advocates of Leon County President Michelle Hartsfield is in charge of the new – larger – Fat Cat Books.
“With more space we can provide more books, which we can sell and obviously go back to rescuing more cats. The location is going to allow us to grow and reach a clientele, maybe it would be a little more accessible.”
The new location is certainly more visible to the nearly 24,000 vehicles the state estimates pass by on Magnolia Drive on an average day.
