New Orleans isn’t the only city with a fun Fat Tuesday celebration. Tallahassee’s Midtown area had its very own Mardi Gras parade on last night before Ash Wednesday.
The Dixieland band was wailing as dozens of folks in all kinds of bizarre costumes – including lots and lots of beads – began a joyful procession from the back courtyard of the Blue Tavern. Carrie Hamby is the bar’s owner.
“We’ve been doing this every year since we reopened. It’s gotten bigger and bigger and pretty soon we’ll just have to block off the street and make it a real parade.”
In the meanwhile, the paraders seemed perfectly content to confine their strutting to the sidewalk.
